Iolite
Violet blue iolite was previously called ‘water sapphire’ because of the cut stone’s similarity to blue sapphire. Recently iolite has been appreciated for what it is, a very affordable stone, durable enough for most jewellery applications that has a unique range of colours all to its self. Iolite is not particularly dense, so even lower carat weight stones can appear quite sizable.
